Why is nokia 5800 so slow
Instead, the challenge there is viewing maps on the smaller screen. There is a built-in accelerometer so you can rotate the phone and view maps, Web pages, photos and so forth in landscape mode, and we experienced very little lag when switching between modes. The touch screen is responsive, but we have complaints about the user interface, just like we did with the XpressMusic version and the Nokia N To start, the onscreen dial pad doesn't show corresponding letters on the number keys, which makes it rather difficult if you're trying to spell a contact's name to call up from the phonebook or when you need to dial a number with letters in it e.
Also, some menu items respond to single taps, but others require two taps; only after some use do you learn that icons only need one tap whereas list items need two.
There are other annoyances like the uneven scrolling experience, all of which you can get accustomed to over time, but it's a tough pill to swallow when there are so many other more intuitive and simpler touch-screen phones out there. Also, above the display, there's a small touch-sensitive XpressMusic button, which will bring up a launch bar for the phone's various multimedia options, including the music player, photo and video gallery, Web browser, and online services e.
The Navigation Edition of the Nokia comes packaged with a USB cable, a cradle and vehicle mount, a car charger, an 8GB microSD card, a wired stereo headset, an audio adapter, a wrist strap, a software CD, and reference material. Though our review didn't come with an AC adapter, Nokia's site says one is included in the box.
Also, the car mount requires a bit of assembly, so have a Phillips screwdriver nearby. The cradle itself securely holds the phone in place, but the suction cup mount only works for the windshield, which is fine for most people, but still, we wish there was a dashboard option. For more add-ons, please check our cell phone accessories, ringtones, and help page. Previously, you had to pay monthly or yearly license fee to get voice-guided navigation as well as premium content, but now it's all gratis.
In the case of the Nokia Navigation Edition, this isn't quite as big of a deal since Nokia already included a free license to the software with the purchase of the phone, but it's still good news nonetheless. Ovi Maps provides several advantages over its competitors. You can view maps even if you don't have a data connection. Maps are downloaded to device, so you can continue to use it even if you're offline. Google Maps, on the other hand, requires that a new map be downloaded every time you want to zoom, thus taking up more bandwidth and time.
Another plus: you can use Ovi Maps in 74 different countries and in 46 languages. All are pretty self-explanatory, and there are a number of shared features among the various apps, though it's not immediately clear.
For example, My Position shows your location on a map, but you can also search for businesses by name or category and route to the location from there by tapping at the address at the top of your screen. You don't have to exit out of My Position and launch Find places or Drive to perform the same tasks.
Maps can be displayed in 2D, 3D, satellite, or terrain view, and there are also 3D landmarks, which can help provide a nice reference point, especially in unfamiliar places.
You can also customize other settings, such as route preferences, points of interest POI categories, and frequency of traffic updates, from the Settings menu press the wrench icon on the front page of Ovi Maps.
This is an area where we definitely missed the voice search function of Google Maps Navigation. To save some time, we'd recommend adding frequently visited places to your Favorites list as well as using the Ovi Web site to add favorites and routes.
Took it back to Carphone listed fault as fuzzy screen. Got it back after two weeks but fault still aparent. Note on repair ticket that they had repaired audio fault, which it did not have. Now have to take it back again. A real pain in the arse.
I got the same problem and i leave inFrance im having this prob since the new update!! I dont know what to do?? My phone does it too. Every one thought i was crazy when i told them my phone went fuzzy when it was cold.
Is there anything I can do? After a couple of seconds, my screen is back in normal position! I purchased Nokia Today, just now. I am facing the screen fuzzy problem when I switched on the phone. It shows nokia logo then goes fuzzy and then dead. When I am looking for a demo before purchase another box piece is also having the same problem. I will ask the dealer to replace this handset. Will give you update soon.
I love this phone but find it hard to believe in NOKIA phones, even though i like the phone but the screen problem is getting me pissed off.
I stay far away from NOKIA center in Nigeria but i tried a simple trick and its seems working fine…Just try to download a standby clock for your phone to keep the screen active after when screen and keys lock with the clock display as low backlight then after when u switch your lock your phone will work normally…. If you need the signed version of this clock you can always send me an email to Have fun. It had never happened before..
After I came back to town everytime I went out.. And im afraid if i give it to Nokia care I will be left without a phone for weeks!! Warming the screen might help but only for a while. It only gets worse. I just got it back works like a charm. Now im facing same problem i always kept nokia mobiles from time to time but this device caused me much trouble , i never forget my previous device nokia N But i was shocked to see so many people posting their problems..
I even thought of opening the phone myself and cleaning it but in vain i have dropped the idea after reading all these post submitted by you all. Warming up the handset is actually not helping. The best solution currently working is to save a white background picture as Wall paper. Just took a picture of a blank white sheet and saved as wallpaper. For the Last 2 days it is working fine for me..
I have a couple of flimsy solutions that seem to work on my phone…when the screen goes fuzzy usually after being locked I do one of two things:. I have Pay as you go and it works without connecting, just as long as it attempts to connect.
By then i just cancel and continue. Hi All, Theres a tempery solution for this when the problem occers press the camera button and hold it to your computer screen, then close the camera from your hand then take your hand off. Hey guys, i got solution for this problem……. U should not keep any shortcut buttons or contact icons.. Leave the screen blank.. Works perfect for me..
All de best.. Hi all, I live in New Zealand and my phone has the same fuzzy screen problem. I have taken it in to Nokia Care only to be told its a software problem.
I have performed a hard reset on my phone which has had no effect. Hello everyone. I see that there have been 80 comments on my post about the fuzzy screen problem from people around the world.
The is very popular and the problem seems to be happening all over the world. They replaced the screen at no cost phone was still under warranty and now the phone is working normally. This is a hardware problem, obviously. If you get this problem insist on Nokia Care to fix it ie: replace the screen.
Hi Everybody. Thanks for all the help!! And i thought I was the only one.. I bought the phone November or December and this problem started happening about a month ago. I finally sent it in to Nokia Care to fix it yesterday… hope they dont charge me to fix it because it is still under the 1 year warranty. I figured out much earlier this is soo weird because my phone only goes fuzzy in the office air conditioned..
It looks like humble pie for me. Just keep ur charger plugged into ur phone when ever sitting in AC. The funniest phone problem: Nokia Xpressmusic screen goes fuzzy when cold!
Bij Nokiacare resetten ze alleen? Niet de allernieuwste updates? Ach je kan altijd eens proberen te updaten. Look at this perfect vedio for this solution and please vote for that guy who made it.
I would like to point out that upgrading your firmware to v5 basically fixes the problem. No hardware changes or any kind will be necessary. Holding it under a light to get warm did help for a while, but not anymore. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community. I recently bought a Nokia XM, and I was happily using all it's applications perfectly. Suddenly, for no apparant reason, the in built web browser became awfully slow.
I have no applications running in the background, I am definatly connected to Wi-Fi, even though the problem still occurs on 3G aswell. I can connect to the internet perfectly using Ovi Store, and Music Store. It's just for some reason, the in-built web browser alone has gone painfully slow, so slow in fact, that it quits the application and returns me the home screen! I have tried restoring to factory settings, reinstalling my phone software using Nokia PC Suite, I even uninstalled all the applications using the application manager, but none of them work.
I use Opera Mobile and it works a treat, but the in built browser is better, and is the default one for hyperlinks etc. I would like to know how to find the problem, just to clarify, I am having no problems at all with any other of the applications This thread is locked. You can follow the question or vote as helpful, but you cannot reply to this thread. I made this mistake a week ago. First was the ca Yehya, 13 Apr Hey could some one plz tellme if there is qwerty keyboard slide or no?
This phone is actually nothing interesting and new. I'd call it a "low-end touchscreen" phone, cause that's what it is. It does have more than respectable price tag, and it's definitely not worth it. And now I'll try to explain such a negative opinion: 1. This phone has nothing that the even the first iPhone that came out in doesn't have, it lacks innovation and FUN-features. Music experience is not that good. OK, the quality is OK, but navigating through the music menus feels a little bit slow and "heavy".
Browsing through menus is quite confusing: up until the 3rd sub-level, you need to tap only once to open selected thing. But, then you suddenly have to tap twice to open selected thing, and tapping once only selects it. Accelerometer functionality is also quite stupid and confusing: it actually works only in some menus and applications, and in some applications it actually rotates automatically, whether you rotate the phone itself or not
