What makes a ws6 different from a trans am

Not all WS6's come with hurst shifters. Mine didn't. But the main differences are 17" rims instead of 16" stiff suspension thicker front sway bar. It's kind of what I had thought for the most part. Anymore comments are welcome! I read this somewhere before but I thought it was cool..

Key thing have fun doin it Go with the base transam , it will be easy to and cheap to go from there, everyone is giving u goood in put. Yeah but unless you wanna run around like all the rice burners do with add on primered parts, you need to figure in the cost of painting the hood, if not the whole car, and the 17" wheels look oh so much better than the 16's IMO of course that doesn't matter if you have the funds to replace them with aftermarket parts I'd go WS6 and save your self the trouble.

Often these panels pull loose from the bottom and flap in the wind. These cars had popup headlights and they are prone to fail, staying either up or down. Also the power window mechanisms are known to fail over time and the taillights can take on water and turn dark.

The sun is murder on the hard interior plastics and upholstery—neither ages well. Cracked dashes are common. The powertrains are tough and will last forever if cared for. The engines and transmissions are good for well over , miles. Also EGRs are known to eat themselves, along with the fuel pump and sending units. Replacement parts are easy to find, but so are aftermarket upgrades, and many of these cars have been modified—some radically with superchargers, nitrous, and turbos—but most have been enhanced with just a few bolt-ons, like aftermarket wheels and gauges.

Although slight mods are nothing to worry about, they do drive down the value of the car. More people want the and later cars with the more desirable LS engine. Cars with the six-speed cost about percent more, and coupes are percent more valuable without T-tops. Formulas cost about the same despite their much lower production numbers.

Overall prices of 1-condition examples have risen about 50 percent in the last three years, while 2 Excellent and 3 Good cars are up about 20 percent. Buying and Selling. A Story About. Also, the two body styles have equal interior space. With the introduction of the LS engine, the WS6 package understandably gained more power. Also, in , a new camshaft and the LS6 intake from Z06 Corvette were added to the Firebird models thereby increasing total output by 5 horsepower. The engines were optionally mated to either a four-speed automatic transmission or a Borg-Warner six-speed manual. Furthermore, the amazing Firebird WS6 adopted a double-wishbone front suspension and a conventional live-axle setup in the rear.

The package had an obvious effect on the car's performance, aided by added features which include larger tires, wider wheels, and a thicker rear sway bar. Also in the same year, the WS6 package was offered on the Firebird Formula. The WS6 package ultimately improves the performance of the Firebird and as such requires a commensurate powerful means of bringing the car to a halt.

Hence, the car adopted four-wheel disc brakes with ABS as standard features while traction control was optionally available. For a more efficient cruise, the WS6 package also adopted a power steering cooler and for proper road grip, it uses well threaded Goodyear F1 GS tires wrapped around specially built inch aluminum wheels. The interior of the Firebird WS6 had a mixed reception.

However, with the premium WS6 model , the car offered a strong array of standard equipment.
